Visiting the sacred grounds of our ancestors this weekend in Pipestone MN. Many nations would come here on long journeys to mine pipestone for the canupa's(pipes). It was a time of peace for all nations and as you walk through you can feel the sacredness of the preserve. Only tribally enrolled members can mine for the pipestone by hand & this was done (recorded) as early as 300 B.C. Mitakuye Oyasin.
